How to Force Restart the Steam App

Restarting Steam may resolve any underlying technical issues that are causing the problem if it freezes, cannot download, install, or launch games. You can use this article to learn various methods to close and relaunch the Steam application on both PCs and Macs.

Close Steam and Open It Again Using the Steam App :

  1. Open the Steam client interface and select Steam from the menu in the upper left corner of the window.
  2. Choose Exit from the drop-down option. There will be less steam.
  3. Open Steam again from the desktop icon or Start menu on your PC. If you’re using a Mac, select the icon from the Dock, Launchpad, or Applications folder.

Force-Stop and Open Steam Again :

1- To access the Task Manager, use Control + Shift + Escape ( in MacOS Option + Command + Escape )
2- Under the default Processes tab, find and select the Steam process.
3- To end the procedure immediately, select the End Task button.
Note : Close any further Steam-related processes, such Steam Client WebHelper and Steam Client Service, that are still visible in the list of processes.

Use the Command Line to Restart Steam :

1- Type cmd into the Start menu, choose Open as administrator, and then press enter.
2- To make Steam close, type taskkill /F /IM steam.exe and hit Enter.
3- To restart Steam, execute the start Steam.exe and cd C:Program Files (x86)Steam instructions one after the other.

On MacOS :

1- Select Other > Terminal after opening the Launchpad.
2- To make Steam close, type killall Steam and hit Enter.
3- To restart , use open a Steam.
