How to Create a ZIP File on Windows 10 & 11

In Windows 10 or 11, you can generate a ZIP file in a variety of ways. You have several options: utilize a third-party app, the context menu, a command prompt, and so on.

1- Use Windows Context Menu to Create a ZIP File :

1- To add files to a ZIP, open the folder containing the files you wish to include.
2- Use CTRL + A to select all files, or single-click any file to pick just that file.
3- Any file can be selected with a right-click, then sent to a compressed (zipped) folder.
4- Windows will pack the files you’ve chosen into a brand-new ZIP package.
That is all. Immediately, the program will zip a new file for you.

2- Create ZIP files on Windows by Using a File Explorer Option :

1- To view the folder containing your files, use a File Explorer window.
2- Choose the files that you wish to include in a ZIP bundle.
3- Select the “Share” tab located at the top of the File Explorer window.
4- Under the Send section, you’ll see an option that says Zip. Select this choice.
Windows will start by creating a ZIP archive on your behalf.

On Windows 11 :

1- Locate the file or folder you wish to compress by using the File Explorer.
2- After choosing the file, click the top three-dot ribbon and choose Compress to ZIP file.

3- Utilize a Third-Party App on Windows to Create a ZIP File :

To build a ZIP file on Windows 10 or 11, use 7-Zip as follows:

1- Install the PC version of 7-Zip.
2- Your files will show up when you open the app. This is the file manager exclusive to the app.
3- Navigate to the folder containing your files using this file manager.
4- Choose the files that you wish to include in your ZIP bundle. In the top toolbar, select Add.
5- For your ZIP archive, provide the output folder, the compression level, the archive format, and, if desired, a password. Click OK at the bottom after that.
The archive will be created and saved by 7-Zip in the folder of your choice.
