Google has rebranded its Bard chatbot to Gemini and introduced a new application for Android users. With the Gemini app, users can designate Gemini AI as their default assistant on their Android devices.

Here’s a detailed guide on using the new Google Gemini app on Android devices:
Installation:
- Open the Google Play Store on your phone.
- Search for “Google Gemini” in the search bar and locate the app.
- Tap on the “Install” button next to the app icon.
- Allow time for the app to download and install on your device.
Getting Started:
- Launch the Gemini app.
- Tap on “Get started.”
- Read the information about Gemini’s capabilities and tap on “More.” Then, agree to the terms by tapping on “I agree.”
- Gemini can assist you with various tasks using voice, text, or photo input. Enter your query in the provided box and tap on the mail icon. You can also select a suggestion from the top of the app.
- Repeat Step 4 for additional queries.
- View your previous queries and responses in the Chats section.
Setting Gemini as Default Assistant:
- In the Gemini app, tap on your Profile picture at the top right.
- Then, select “Settings.”
- Tap on “Digital assistants from Google.”
- Choose Gemini to set it as your default digital assistant.
- To switch back to Google Assistant, repeat the same steps and select “Google Assistant” instead.
